Another First for Communic8 as it Launches the SmartLinQ GPS Phone with24/7 Careline Support

By admin - Posted on 20 July 2009

This week sees Communic8 Ltd (www.smartlinqmobile.co.uk), the UK’s leading supplier of mobile phones for the elderly and infirm, score another UK first. The niche specialist is launching a unique new mobile package that offers users the latest easy-to-use GPS technology combined with care monitoring and support 365 days a year.

The first of its kind in the UK this new mobile package from Communic8 incorporates the new easy-to-use SmartLinQ GPS mobile with round the clock care support from Careline, one of Europe’s most established care monitoring centres.

The SmartLinQ is the most powerful quad band GSM device on the market today and can communicate via GPRS as well as SMS. Using the GPS functionality you can receive the location of the SmartLinQ with an accuracy of around 10 metres.  Other key features include the ability to set up to four safety zones that can provide either in or out zone alerts, and a choice of tracking intervals from 1 minute to every 60 minutes.  Each handset is equipped with speed alerts and a motion sensor which can immediately identify an unusual situation such as a fall or complete lack of movement. The phone has the ability to programme up to four speed dial numbers and has a one push SOS emergency button which not only makes contact with a pre-defined number but will also send a message to the Careline emergency centre.

Operating round the clock the Careline care monitoring and support centre will immediately answer an emergency call and be able to locate the exact position of the user via GPS. The highly trained operators will have access to the users medical history, contact details and other relevant information vital in a potential emergency. If immediate help is required, the operator will summon the appropriate Emergency Service to the users location and continue to communicate with the user until assistance arrives.

Careline, based in New Milton, Hampshire are convinced that combining their monitoring services with the SmartLinQ device will prove to be very popular. Carl Atkey, Head of Careline commented “Careline in partnership with Communic8 is very pleased to deliver a market leading product for the elderly, lone workers and remote alarms. Our strategic partnership with Communic8 enables us to deliver a service that we believe will be second to none.” He added “This is an ideal opportunity for Careline to expand its scope of monitoring solutions and provide high levels of safety and security for the people that we protect.”

Communic8 have already trialled the phone in the UK with a number of patients. Barbara Mills from Hampshire has been a recent tester of the service. “This new device is wonderful and has given my family the peace of mind and reassurance we needed. I feel so much more confident now. It really has made the world of difference to me.” she explained.

Stewart Smith, Director of Communic8 said “Communic8 is constantly looking for ways to see how new technology can help the elderly and infirm retain their independence and the SmartLinQ is just another demonstration of this commitment. Many elderly people use a pendent when they are in their home that’s linked to a monitoring service which is great. However the pendent only works within the home and won’t function if they go out shopping for example. By using the SmartLinQ they can contact Careline with the push of a button, their exact location obtained via the GPS and assistance can be given – wherever they are. It’s really going to give the elderly and their loved ones real peace of mind”

The SmartLinQ device is from Communic8 at a one off cost of just £149.99 with the carer package costing just £21.99 per month. The package includes an Orange contract SIM card with a unique telephone number, access to Careline 24/7, 365 days a year. That’s total peace of mind for just 73p per day. The company are currently offering an additional option to purchase 18 months care monitoring in advance for just £356.24 – a saving of £40.

As a special offer, Communic8 are offering the SmartLinQ device to the first 100 customers for just £99 – a £50 discount! The standard carer package is an additional monthly cost.

This special package, which is exclusive to Communic8 is ideally suited for the elderly, infirm and those who suffer from dementia. No other product on the market can offer the total peace of mind both to the user as well as for those who care about them.
